TimeXtender Consulting & Implementation

Before you can build on your data, it needs to be accurate: sources brought together, figures that mean the same thing everywhere, and processes that run reliably. We get your data management in order with TimeXtender, from integration and modeling to quality and management. One foundation, whether you use Power BI, Qlik, or something else on top of it.

Customers usually come to us in one of these situations.

Your data landscape is fragmented. Separate databases and reports where revenue means something different in one report than in another. You want one place where your sources come together and figures mean the same thing everywhere.

Your existing data process is reaching its limits. Reloads are getting slower, the overnight window is too short, and your BI team spends too much time on manual maintenance. You need a data layer that can grow with you.

You want to move from one reporting tool to another, for example from Qlik to Power BI, and find that your data layer and reporting are intertwined. You want to separate your data from the tool.

Whatever the reason, there is often another consideration: you are looking for a partner that takes your data foundation seriously, rather than simply installing software and leaving.

TimeXtender is more than a tool for moving data. It is the platform you use to structure your data management: bringing sources together, modeling and documenting them, and preparing them for reporting. We set up this layer so you can build on it and your team can manage it independently later.

Your data is spread across ERP, financial systems, Excel, quality systems, and a handful of other sources. We connect them using TimeXtender Data Integration and bring them together in a consistent structure: first loading all sources in raw form, then cleaning and modeling them step by step into datasets the business can use. This keeps the original source traceable and ensures that a figure means the same thing everywhere.

A data layer is only valuable if it is accurate every morning. We configure your TimeXtender environment so models move through development, acceptance, and production in a controlled way, allowing you to test new changes before they go live. With Orchestration, we automatically schedule your load processes to run at the right time and in the right order, and coordinate them with other processes they depend on, including those outside TimeXtender. This keeps your entire data process aligned, even as your environment grows.

TimeXtender separates your data layer from your reporting tool. This means you are not tied to a single front end: whether you use Power BI, Qlik, or something else, the underlying data remains the same. If you want to switch later, for example from Qlik to Power BI, you only need to replace the reporting layer rather than rebuild your entire data foundation.

A good data layer is about more than simply combining sources. In our projects, we also establish data quality and documentation, as well as data enrichment where needed to align data from different sources. This lets you build quickly while using data you can trust.

Are you looking for someone to handle the entire project or just one part? We can do either. Sometimes we build a complete data layer, while at other times we improve a specific part of an existing environment. We look at what you need.

We have been implementing TimeXtender for years, and we see the same pattern every time: once you add a solid data layer, your BI team saves hundreds of hours of manual work and your data finally becomes reliable. We know where these projects tend to run into problems and how to set them up properly from the start. We have been a TimeXtender partner since 2016 and are currently the only Mind Partner in the Netherlands.

What you won’t get from us is a company that installs the software and then leaves. We help you think through your data strategy, transfer knowledge to your own team, and remain available when something comes up. Small enough for personal contact, yet large enough to have the necessary expertise in-house.

After years of TimeXtender projects, you learn what works and what doesn’t. We have captured that experience in a consistent approach: the Bitmetric Blueprint. It isn’t a lengthy playbook that we impose on every customer, but a set of agreements and standards that keeps us from reinventing the wheel each time.

Even with TimeXtender, you can build an environment that is difficult to navigate. As soon as you fall back on separate views, stored procedures, and manual SQL for convenience, you lose the very documentation, lineage, and clarity that led you to choose TimeXtender. Our approach preserves that clarity: we work within the tool’s structured approach as much as possible, using consistent naming, a logical structure, and accurate documentation. This keeps your environment understandable, even if another developer works in it years later or you grow from a few sources to dozens. We don’t transfer this way of working through a lengthy manual, but by collaborating with your team so that the approach becomes embedded and continues after we leave.

Our broader approach also applies to Qlik, Power BI, and Microsoft Fabric. Learn more about the Bitmetric Blueprint on our Consulting page.

Yes. TimeXtender prepares the data layer independently of your reporting tool. Whether you use Power BI, Qlik, or something else, the underlying data remains the same. This also means you can switch reporting tools later without rebuilding your entire data foundation.

Yes, we do this regularly. Many organizations come to us with a data warehouse built manually using separate scripts, or one that is struggling with load times and maintenance. We first assess what you have, then determine what can be migrated to TimeXtender and what would be better rebuilt. This gives you an environment that requires less manual work and is easier to maintain.

Yes. We start with a brief analysis of your environment to understand how it is set up and identify the areas that need attention. We can then take over maintenance, improve the environment, or prepare it for the next step, such as an upgrade to the latest version.

TimeXtender comes in two versions. TimeXtender Classic runs entirely on-premises on SQL Server and is suited to organizations that deliberately want to keep their data within their own network. TimeXtender Data Integration is the cloud version, offering a choice of a warehouse, data lake, or lakehouse for storage and more room to grow with future cloud plans. We provide services for both and help you determine which route best fits where you are now and where you want to go.

We do both. Data integration is at the core of our work: connecting and bringing sources together. But a well-designed project involves more, including data quality, documentation, and data enrichment where needed to align data from different sources. This lets you set up your data management properly from the start instead of having to add pieces later.

Yes. We are comfortable with your team becoming less dependent on us, so we are happy to work alongside your people and transfer knowledge as we go. We also provide training through our Academy, helping your team work more independently with TimeXtender.

Less than with a manually built data warehouse. TimeXtender automates much of the hands-on work, such as data preparation and documentation. But the thinking is still required: you need to model data well and work consistently, or a TimeXtender environment will eventually become a mess too. That is exactly where we help: we set up the environment properly and teach your team to work with it in a structured way so that it remains clear and manageable.

Two things. First, time: your BI team spends less time on manual work, and your reports are updated sooner. For one of our customers, part of the data is now refreshed every five minutes, whereas it used to be an overnight process. Second, and at least as important, your environment stays up to date. Because TimeXtender generates the underlying code instead of someone writing it by hand, every change rebuilds everything according to the latest insights. In a manually built environment, technical debt accumulates: every change leaves traces, and after a few years no one understands how everything fits together anymore. This is much less of an issue with TimeXtender.

The two do not conflict; they reinforce each other. Microsoft Fabric is the platform where your data lands, while TimeXtender is the layer that lets you develop on it faster and in a more structured way. Instead of building pipelines and models by hand, TimeXtender automates that work and keeps your environment organized and documented, including on Fabric. If you use Fabric or are considering a move to it, you can use TimeXtender to speed up development. We work with both and help you set up the combination properly.
