Your Qlik Cloud environment contains much more than apps. Automations, spaces, connections, security settings and other tenant configuration can also be difficult or impossible to reconstruct after accidental deletion or unwanted changes.
Bitmetric Backup for Qlik Cloud creates a daily backup of supported content and configuration, stored securely outside your Qlik Cloud tenant.
Why back up Qlik Cloud?
Qlik Cloud is a SaaS platform, but that does not mean every change can simply be undone.
Apps, automations, connections and tenant configuration can be deleted, overwritten or changed by mistake. And sometimes the problem is only discovered days or even weeks later.
With daily backups, you retain different versions over time. This means you can go back to an earlier state instead of having to rebuild content or configuration from scratch.
Backup for Qlik Cloud gives you a separate backup history of supported tenant content and configuration, so you have something to fall back on when needed.
Backup for Qlik Cloud covers much more than Qlik apps. We back up a broad range of supported content, configuration and metadata from your Qlik Cloud tenant.
Apps, collections, extensions, themes, glossaries and report templates.
Automations, reload tasks, sharing tasks and related configuration.
Data connections, automation connections, web integrations and webhooks.
Spaces, users, groups, roles and related configuration.
Identity providers, OAuth clients, API keys and CSP origins.
Additional supported settings and tenant metadata.
As Qlik Cloud evolves, we continue to extend the backup coverage where technically possible.
Backup for Qlik Cloud runs automatically once per day. We connect securely to your Qlik Cloud tenant, retrieve the supported content and configuration, and store the backup outside your tenant.
By default, we back up metadata, configuration and app definitions, but not the data loaded into Qlik apps. If you also want app data to be included, this can be added as an optional extension.
Backups are retained according to a tiered retention schedule:
This gives you both recent restore points and a longer history to fall back on when an issue is only discovered later.
€295 per month per Qlik Cloud tenant.
Backup for Qlik Cloud is a managed backup service. We take care of the daily backups, verify that they complete successfully and periodically check that the backups remain usable.
The service includes:
By default, we back up metadata, configuration and app definitions. The data loaded into Qlik apps is not included. Backup of app data is available as an optional add-on.
* Additional recovery work beyond the included 8 hours is charged at the applicable support rate.
Backup for Qlik Cloud gives you daily backups, long-term retention and recovery support when you need it.
Want to know what the service would look like for your Qlik Cloud tenant?
Backup for Qlik Cloud is built and managed by people who work with Qlik Cloud every day.
Our consultants use the same platform in support, consulting, migrations and audits. That experience helps us understand which parts of a tenant matter in practice, what can go wrong and which objects are worth protecting.
We also keep the backup service up to date as Qlik Cloud evolves, extending the coverage where new functionality becomes available through supported APIs.
And if you ever need to recover something, you are not dealing with a generic backup provider. You are dealing with a Qlik specialist who understands the environment being restored.
Yes. Qlik provides a Recovery API that can be used to restore deleted apps in certain situations.
However, there are important limitations. The app must be restored within 14 days, and the original space where the app existed must still exist.
Backup for Qlik Cloud adds a separate backup history with longer retention and broader coverage across supported tenant content and configuration. That gives you more recovery options when something is discovered later, when the original space no longer exists, or when you need to recover more than just an app.
Because SaaS mainly removes the need to manage the underlying infrastructure yourself. It does not mean every change to your own content or configuration can simply be undone.
If an app, automation, connection or setting is deleted or overwritten, a separate backup gives you an earlier version to fall back on.
Yes. The complete backup process can be built and automated using the available Qlik APIs.
You would then need to design and maintain the backup logic yourself, including storage, retention, monitoring, failed backups, integrity checks, recovery procedures and ongoing changes to the Qlik Cloud APIs.
Backup for Qlik Cloud is intended for organisations that prefer to have that entire process managed for them.
By default, Backup for Qlik Cloud backs up metadata, configuration and app definitions, but not the data loaded into Qlik apps.
If you also want app data to be included, this can be added as an optional extension to the service.
We use a tiered retention schedule. Daily backups are retained for 7 days, weekly backups for 6 weeks, monthly backups for 12 months and yearly backups for 3 years.
Yes. We verify daily that the backup completed successfully, perform a backup integrity check every quarter and carry out a recovery test at least once a year.
If something needs to be recovered, we first determine which backup contains the required version.
Depending on the type of content, recovery may involve restoring the original object, importing an earlier version or reconstructing the configuration from the backup. In many cases, individual objects can be restored, although the available method depends on the type of Qlik Cloud object and what the Qlik APIs support.
The service includes up to 8 hours of recovery assistance per year. If more time is required, additional work is charged at the applicable support rate.
Backups are stored in Bitmetric’s own data center, separate from your Qlik Cloud tenant.
We use a 3-2-1 backup strategy, with multiple copies on different storage media and at least one copy stored separately, reducing the risk of a single failure affecting all backup copies.
Backup for Qlik Cloud requires administrative access to your Qlik Cloud tenant so we can retrieve the supported content and configuration.
Access is provided using either a Qlik API key or an OAuth client. We use this access only to run and maintain the backup service.
We’ll explain the required permissions and help you configure the access securely during setup.
We maintain the backup service as Qlik Cloud evolves.
When new functionality or object types become available through supported APIs, we evaluate whether they can be added to the backup coverage.
