Van Oord Coastlines

Van Oord is Using Data to Highlight Vulnerable Coastlines, they have developed an open Climate Risk Overview Tool powered by Qlik Sense to protect vulnerable coastal communities and ecosystems while supporting their own sustainable development plan.

About Van Oord

Van Oord is a Dutch enterprise and a recognized industry leader in dredging, maritime construction, offshore wind, offshore infrastructure, and Dutch infrastructure. As a family-owned business, we consider both short and long-term actions, paving the way for ingenious and innovative solutions. Van Oord’s sustainability program focuses on four pillars: enhancing the energy transition, accelerating climate action, empowering nature and communities, and achieving net-zero emissions. We have set specific, long-term goals for each pillar to support the overarching aims of the sustainability program.

In this webinar, we will discuss how Qlik can help us accelerate climate action. The planet is facing enormous challenges caused by human activity, increasing the vulnerability of communities and ecosystems to the forces of nature. This is worsened by the effects of climate change, which is threatening the world’s coastal defenses. Van Oord has responded to these challenges by developing the Climate Adaptation Action Plan. The plan is designed to encourage meaningful dialogue between stakeholders in order to provide ready-to-scale marine solutions that help increase the resilience of the communities and ecosystems of coastal areas.

How is Van Oord using Qlik?

Qlik is enabling Van Oord to use public data to highlight vulnerable coastlines and to build its own sustainable development as part of its creative sustainability project, Sustainable Earth Actions, by assisting the firm in better discovering and prioritizing nature-based flood control options. We apply the famous Qlik data exploration along a range of dimensions to the entire planet.
