16 September 2025 Support for registering JSON columns in pipeline projects Share this message Starting from today, registered data tasks will automatically detect JSON columns and set JSON data types. The new JSON logical type will be mapped to the following data types: VARIANT on Snowflake and Databricks JSON on Google BigQuery SUPER on Amazon Redshift VARCHAR(max) on Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft Fabric, and Azure Synapse Analytics Additionally, all task types support manually changing data types to JSON and calling the relevant parsing functions to convert from STRING to JSON.
